Youth Empowerment at CCHEC

At the Centre for Community Health and Environmental Change (CCHEC), we recognize that youth are pivotal to the social and economic transformation of communities. Our youth empowerment programs are designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to become confident, productive, and responsible citizens.

Objectives

Our main goal is to foster youth leadership, promote entrepreneurship, and enhance life skills that enable young people to overcome challenges such as unemployment, poverty, and social exclusion.

Key Components of Youth Empowerment

  1. Skills Development and Vocational Training

CCHEC facilitates training in practical skills, including agriculture, information technology, tailoring, carpentry, and business management. These programs target out-of-school youth and school leavers, providing pathways to meaningful employment or self-employment.

  2. Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy

We support youth to start and grow their own businesses through training on business planning, savings, credit access, and market linkages. We often connect youth groups to Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to encourage financial inclusion and sustainable income generation.

  3. Leadership and Civic Engagement

Our youth programs promote active participation in community decision-making, governance, and development initiatives. We organize forums, workshops, and mentorship programs that nurture leadership skills and foster a sense of responsibility.

  4. Health and Well-being Education

Recognizing the unique challenges youth face, CCHEC integrates health education, including sexual and reproductive health, mental health awareness, and substance abuse prevention, to empower youth to make informed life choices.

  5. Sports and Recreation

We organize sports tournaments and recreational activities to build teamwork, discipline, and social cohesion among young people. These activities also serve as platforms for positive youth engagement and talent development.

Our Approach

CCHEC employs a participatory and inclusive approach, ensuring that youth voices are heard and their specific needs addressed. We collaborate with schools, community leaders, youth groups, and local authorities to create a supportive environment for youth development.

Impact

Our youth empowerment initiatives have enabled many young people to gain skills, access economic opportunities, and contribute positively to their communities. By investing in youth, CCHEC helps build a future generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers.
