Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

As the CEO of the Centre for Community Health and Environmental Change (CCHEC), Joseph Baraka Ogolla leads impactful health, WASH, and environmental initiatives, driving sustainable change through community-based research, inclusive education, and targeted support for vulnerable populations.

With over a decade of experience in humanitarian programming and community development, Joseph is committed to improving the quality of life in underserved communities across Kilifi County and beyond. He studied Leadership and Project Management at the University of Washington, equipping him with the practical tools and strategic vision to guide CCHEC’s mission.

Under his leadership, CCHEC has grown into a respected community-based organization that champions school greening, menstrual health innovations, sanitation access, and climate adaptation. Joseph emphasizes local ownership, evidence-based approaches, and collaborative partnerships to create lasting impact at the grassroots level.

He is also trained in Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) and has played a key role in advancing the Open Defecation Free (ODF) agenda in multiple villages.

Joseph’s vision is rooted in equity, resilience, and the belief that sustainable development begins with empowering the communities themselves.

Head of Department

As the Head of Department, Belina provides strategic leadership in designing and implementing programs that champion gender equality, prevent gender-based violence (GBV), and promote the health, dignity, and rights of women and girls. She plays a central role in mobilizing communities, building partnerships with local leaders and stakeholders, and creating safe spaces for dialogue and healing.

Belina leads a diverse portfolio of initiatives including survivor-centered support programmes, capacity-building for frontline responders, and community-driven awareness campaigns that challenge harmful gender norms. Her approach ensures that programs are not only inclusive and rights-based but also grounded in evidence and responsive to the evolving needs of women and girls—especially those in marginalized and underserved areas.

Through her leadership, the department has strengthened multisectoral coordination, enhanced advocacy for policy change, and empowered women and girls to become active agents of change in their communities.

Finance and Administration Manager

As the Finance and Administration Manager at CCHEC, Knight provides strategic and operational leadership in managing the organization’s financial health and administrative functions. She is responsible for developing and overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting systems that ensure transparency, accountability, and optimal use of resources across all programs.

With a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to organizational integrity, Knight has been instrumental in strengthening internal controls, streamlining procurement and inventory systems, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements, statutory obligations, and international financial standards. Her role also includes supervising human resource and logistical operations, fostering a supportive work environment, and aligning administrative functions with CCHEC’s mission and values.

Knight brings a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving and risk management, enabling the organization to make data-driven financial decisions that support long-term sustainability. Through her leadership, CCHEC has enhanced its operational efficiency, improved audit performance, and built the financial resilience needed to scale impactful community programs in health, WASH, and environmental conservation.
