Partnership with Seedball Kenya: Planting 10,000+ Acacia Seed Balls

The Centre for Community Health and Environmental Change (CCHEC) is proud to partner with Seedball Kenya in a groundbreaking environmental restoration initiative aimed at combating deforestation, land degradation, and climate change. Together, we have embarked on a mission to plant over 10,000 acacia seed balls across vulnerable landscapes.

About the Initiative

Seedball Kenya specializes in producing seed balls — small, nutrient-rich clay balls embedded with seeds — that facilitate easy and effective tree planting, even in hard-to-reach or degraded areas. This method enhances seed survival rates by protecting seeds from pests, drought, and erosion, ensuring better germination.

Our Role and Objectives

CCHEC is actively mobilizing communities, schools, youth groups, and local stakeholders to participate in the seed ball planting exercise. By distributing and planting over 10,000 acacia seed balls, we aim to:

Community Engagement

The project emphasizes community ownership, training participants on seed ball preparation, planting techniques, and long-term care of seedlings. Local schools and youth groups are key partners in this effort, helping foster environmental stewardship among younger generations.

Expected Impact

The large-scale planting of acacia trees using seed balls is expected to contribute significantly to reforestation efforts, improve local microclimates, and support livelihoods through sustainable forestry practices. This partnership represents a practical, low-cost, and scalable solution to environmental challenges faced by our communities.
